MY HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TIPS

1. Eat wholesomely - according to your needs and constitution:
- Sit down to dine and savor your food
- Have as many meatless and low-carb meals as possible (I indulge on meat, bread, pasta, rice, cakes, desserts, cheese, peanut butter, etc... only once or twice a week, mostly on weekends)
- Serve vegetables at every meal
- Integrate sufficient healthy proteins and cereals into your diet (seeds, eggs, dairy products, poultry, fish, tofu, farro, barley, oats, buckwheat, etc...)
- Regularly cook with legumes and grains (a few times a week)
- Eat a handful of nuts and fruits on a daily basis
- Flavor your dishes with lots of spices and herbs as well as natural condiments (vinegar, mustard, hot sauce, etc...)
- Use good oils and fats in reasonable quantities (that also includes animal fats)
- Drink lots of plain water (the amount varies from one person to another, depending on one's lifestyle and body's demand)
- Cut down on sugar and floury foods
- Steer clear of additives, MSG, glucose, trans fats, GMO's and processed food
2. Exercise often
3. Sleep enough
4. Get some fresh air and get close to nature
5. Relax more and ban stress from your life
6. Seek harmony and peace of mind, think positively, be optimistic and surround yourself with non-toxic people
7. Find inspiration in others, be passionate and creative
8. Express your emotions - don't swallow your feelings
9. Be one with the Universe
10. Stop trying to be someone else and learn to love yourself by accepting who you are and acknowledging your uniqueness
11. Enjoy life & don't take it all too seriously
12. Fake it till you make it!

PEANUT ADDICTION

Let me tell you people, I am a mad peanut freak!!! Although my blog contains very few recipes with peanuts (I don't really know why...), I am totally nuts about them.

Some people can't live without chocolate. Well, I can't survive a week (a day more exactly, he, he) without eating either roasted peanuts (with or without the shells) or peanut butter. I am totally addicted!!!

My favorite treat on Sunday mornings is homemade bread smothered in peanut butter and honey. Evil!

At least, this wonderful legume is a healthy nutrient:

"Peanuts are also a good way to consume many other beneficial micronutrients in the diet. In addition to containing over 75 percent good unsaturated fat, peanuts are a good source of fiber, as well as vitamin E, folate, potassium, magnesium, and zinc, all which are thought to be important to health. For example, a recent study done at Purdue University showed that subjects with low levels of magnesium in their blood were brought up into normal ranges when they ate peanuts every day."

As a peanut addict, that's very good news, don't you think?...

"I hate television.
I hate it as much as peanuts.
But I can't stop eating peanuts."
