PLEASANT HELL

In the center of Geneva, there's a small cute street named "Rue D'enfer" (Hell Street)... Why it's called so, I haven't got the slightest clue, but I can only say that it's a silent cudly little street which in no way reminds me of the sulphuric fires of Satan's realm!!! Everything there is normal, maybe too normal......

  1. Actually there was one Rue d'Enfer in Paris, but it has been renamed, it is now Boulevard Saint Germain. In Paris, d'enfer was previously "de Ferto" (19th century) in Latin.

  2. There is a small peaceful village close to where I live called Enfer. I have always wondered where that comes from.
Thanks for the picture of the Geneva streets, I haven't been there in a long long time, it is nice to see them.

  3. MARIE, PARIS: I heard about that, but didn't know why it was named so...

GRACIANNE: I also wonder if it was really meant to have this meaning or if it is a deformation of the real/original name!
