With time, my love for tomatoes started to grow and thanks to "Heirloom Tomatoes" a whole new world has opened to me, revealing the most intriguing tomatoes I have ever come across.
"Heirloom Tomatoes", or heritage tomatoes come in so many shapes, tastes and colors that it is impossible not to fall in love with them all!
Until now, I've tested "Green Zebra", "Kumato", "Golden Queen", "Yellow Jelly Bean", "Cherry" & "Beef Heart" tomatoes and I had much pleasure eating them.
"Heirloom" is the theme for the September CLICK photo event at Jugalbandi. I have submitted the fourth photo, so i'm crossing my fingers in order to be amongst the lucky winner...

I agree Rosa! I can't stop eating tomatoes now! I just wish we could get more of the heirloom variety here in Australia.

Love the tomatoes. We do not have this variety here in Oz (I don't think), but I love tomatoes in general!

Those are such beautiful pics Rosa. I'm with you - as kid I would pick the tomato out of my food, I'd only eat tomato sauce. Now I'd be lost without fresh tomatoes.

I was never a great lover of tomatoes as a kid either ... but freshly picked tomatoes, right off the vine ... VERY good.

Never see before this type of tomatoes, I love them, beauty pics, with the kids Rosa we eat tomatoes all year!! winter,spring,summer falletc. But the most I love are the tomatoes summer, are so tasy!! xxgloria

As soon as I open your page, I was like, OMG ... this is my son most favorite tomato. he love this zebra green stripes tomato so much. He told me to make salad with this type of tomato every single day. So funny that he only like this color. Wonder why?

I've spent a lot of the last week eating a large variety of heirlooms. I'm trying to remember the names now. I know one was "Black Sea Man" - I can't remember the others, but they are soooooo good!
I like them especially on whole wheat bread with a little mayonnaise. The perfect summer lunch.
Rosa, as a kid I failed to see what all the fuss was about tomatoes, unless it came in sauce form.
As an adult, my feelings didn't change much, until I tried a friend's homegrown tomatoes. That's when tomatoes finally gained my respect. It's also when I started growing my own. Being a wimpy, amateur gardener, I started out with Sweet 100s. But, even those tasted heavenly, compared to the impostors sold in supermarkets.
I also love heirloom tomatoes, but your lovely photos makes them too pretty to eat. It's tomato art![g]

I never liked toamtoes at all as a kid - so mushy but now, they're a real staple, espcially in summer. Thanks for increasing my awareness of all things culinary - these are gorgeous and amazing to look at.

I totally agree with you beautiful, when I was a child I hated tomatoes, I remember my Mom used to tell us that we should eat them because that was the only possible way t have som nice pinky cheeks!! (haha)..I never buy her the idea..
Until I got older I became so fond about tomatos, glad to know I'm not alone.

I find heirloom tomatoes so interesting. I have a funny relationship with tomatoes, I can't eat them on salad but I will eat them on anything else.

Moi aussi quand j'étais enfant, je n'aimais pas les tomates, faut dire que ma mère en faisait presque tous les jours...Ce n'est qu'à l'âge adulte que j'ai su les apprécier, comme le choux fleur...

Je connais cette variété de tomates que j'ai eu l'occasion de goûter au château de la Bourdaisière qui cultive plus de 630 variétés. Elles sont excellentes !

not only are heirlooms soooo gorgeous, but i also think they taste far superior to your typical red tomater. my grandpa has actually bred his own heirloom variety, and it's the best tomato i've ever put into my mouth. :)

mon voisin est fana de variétés anciennes, grâce à lui je me régale depuis des années, quel bonheur de retrouver le vrai gout des tomates ( et tant pis pour ceux qui n'achètent que des variétés industrielles!

So I am not the only one with tomato issues - cool! I don't like them unless they're in something; I pick them out of salads & off of burgers & sandwiches!
les tomates vertes, ça fait longtemps que j'en ai pas vu. J'en mangeais beaucoup petite au Liban. Celles de ta photo sont un peu différentes de ce que je connais, ceci dit elles sont très jolies je trouve!

I had the same tomato experience as you. Younger I only ate freshly-grown garden tomatoes because everything else had no taste to me. I LOVE heirloom tomatoes and your photos are beautiful! Hope you win.
