ACCEPT WHAT IS, BUT ALLOW YOURSELF TO DREAM...

Arbon, Bodensee - Spring 2014
On days when it was too hot, they did not leave their room. The dazzling brilliance from outside plastered bars of light between the slats of the blinds. Not a sound in the village. Down below, on the sidewalk, no one. This spreading silence increased the tranquility of things. In the distance, the caulkers’ hammers tamped the hulls, and a heavy breeze brought the smell of tar.
- Gustave Flaubert, A Simple Heart
Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.
- Lao Tzu

 Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.
 - A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Summer has finally arrived.

My drowsy village is falling into a deep slumber and my head is filled with dreams of far away destinations.

From my tranquil ivory tower, I gaze towards the Jura mountains and imagine I am sitting in one of the aeroplanes that is swiftly taking off in the horizon.

Oh, how sweet it would be to discover new landscapes, immerse myself in another culture and feel free for a while!

I wish my summer days would be filled with adventures, laughter and insouciance, but instead I very seldom leave my fortress of solitude* or escape the routine.

Nonetheless, I am thankful for what I have (a drama-free life, an thoughtful and loving boyfriend, a cutie pie kitty, kind friends - real and virtual, a countryside apartment with a killer view,  the gift of contentment, optimism, wonder and awe, etc...) and I never lose hope for a better tomorrow.

Good things come to those who wait...
